Hilton Head Christian 40, Bible Baptist 37: The Eagles fought off a challenge from their Savannah visitors, getting their record to .500 and giving Kenny Conroy his 200th career victory as a girls basketball coach -- against his former team, no less.
Hilton Head Christian led 28-16 at the half, but struggled to put away Bible Baptist in the non-region matchup.
Lauren Davis led Hilton Head Christian with 12 points. Andy Anderson added 10 points, Audrey Bensch scored seven and Addison Bensch finished with six, including two key free throws with 10 seconds left that put the hosts up by five.
The Eagles (11-11) return to their SCISAA Region 3-AAA schedule at Porter-Gaud on Tuesday.
Martayshia Brown had 11 points and Bria McCarthy scored nine for Bible Baptist.
Hilton Head High 58, Lake Marion 39: Sabrina Drammis had a strong night, racking up 26 points as the Seahawks remained undefeated in Region 7-AAA.
Lauryn Bush added 11 points, Tashawna Washington had eight and Jamese Franklin scored seven for Hilton Head High (18-4 overall, 8-0 region). Macy King scored four points and Zion Campbell had two for the Seahawks, who host Berkeley on Tuesday.
Lake Marion was led by Raven Scales' 17 points.
Battery Creek 33, Cane Bay 23: Daisja Cannon scored 14 points and Alisha Varela added 10 as the Dolphins won a defensive struggle at Cane Bay to bring their region record to the .500 mark.
Battery Creek (4-13 overall, 4-4 Region 7-AAA) plays at Bluffton on Tuesday.
Brookelynn Doctor had seven points to lead Cane Bay.
Summerville 56, Beaufort High 47: Sarah Montei scored 21 points to help Summerville win and keep the Eagles winless in Region 8-AAAA.
Emani Gray had 16 points to lead Beaufort High (5-15 overall, 0-6 region). Paris Smith added 13 points and nine rebounds, and Ebony Watson had 11 points, seven rebounds and five blocked shots for the Eagles, who trailed 33-23 at halftime.
The Eagles play their final home game of the season Tuesday night against Fort Dorchester.
Beaufort Academy 38, St. Andrew's 10: Miranda Weslake had 18 points and seven steals, and Katherine Neal finished with 12 points and 15 rebounds as the Eagles cruised to victory. The win clinched at least fourth place in the region and all but assured the Eagles of a playoff berth.
Taylor Vincent added three points, McKenzie Blake and Megan Debardelaben scored two each, and Megan Kahn had one point and three blocked shots for Beaufort Academy (9-9 overall, 6-5 SCISAA Region 1-AA), which held a 24-4 lead at halftime.
The Eagles play at undefeated Thomas Heyward Academy on Tuesday.
Northwood Academy 97, Hilton Head Prep 21: Junior Halie Parker led the Dolphins with seven points. Gracie Anderson chipped in four points and Maggie Gasser scored three for Hilton Head Prep (6-15), which travels today to play Ashley Hall.
Estill 58, Whale Branch 49: Laticia Garvin poured in 34 points to lead Estill into second place in Region 5-A, breaking a tie in the standings with Whale Branch.
S'nitra Mack scored 16 points to pace the Warriors (10-6 overall, 7-3 region). Kemoni Jenkins had 12 points, Deborah Fields scored nine, and Sherrin Reed and Shaniqua Johnson added six each.
Whale Branch hosts Bethune-Bowman on Monday.
Thomas Heyward Academy 52, Charleston Collegiate 32: Brielle Jungblut had 16 points and seven steals, and Jamie Malphrus added 14 points and six rebounds as the undefeated Rebels padded their lead in SCISAA Region 1-AA.
Kayla Canavan contributed 10 points, and Ashlie Layman finished with nine points and eight rebounds for Thomas Heyward (20-0 overall, 9-0 region), which hosts Beaufort Academy on Tuesday.
Second-place Charleston Collegiate fell to 7-2 in the region.
JV: Whale Branch 18, Estill 14
Summerville 60, Beaufort High 41: Senior Henry Jenkins was the only player to score in double figures for the Eagles, finishing with 10 points.
Thurston MIlton scored nine for Beaufort High (13-8, 4-2 Region 8-AAAA), which hosts Fort Dorchester on Tuesday.
J.D. Tucker led Summerville with 27 points.
Lake Marion 54, Hilton Head High 34: The Seahawks tried to slow down Lake Marion, and were largely successful doing so, but couldn't get their offense going. The Gators led 19-7 at the half.
"Our plan was to slow them down defensively, but we just had a really hard time putting the ball in the basket," Seahawks coach Ken Updike said.
Michael Julian led the Seahawks (9-13 overall, 3-5 Region 7-AAA) with 16 points, five rebounds and three blocked shots. Alex MacDonald added 10 points, but was limited by foul trouble.
Mike Williams and C.J. Turner scored nine apiece for Lake Marion (6-2 region), which had 10 players tally points.
Hilton Head High hosts Berkeley on Tuesday for senior night.
Cane Bay 85, Battery Creek 78: The Dolphins fell despite 33 points from senior guard Justice Oliver.
Raheem Cooper added 10 points for the Dolphins, who trailed 37-26 at halftime.
Battery Creek (4-20) visits Bluffton on Tuesday.
Hilton Head Christian 60, Bible Baptist 41: After a sluggish first half, the Eagles outscored their non-region opponent by 19 in the second half to win going away.
"We had an attitude adjustment in the locker room," said coach Kenny Conroy, whose team was tied at 20 after two quarters.
Taylor MacDonald led the Eagles (12-9) with 20 points. Brad Meccariello had 13 points and Zach Reynolds added 11 for Hilton Head Christian, which plays at Porter-Gaud on Tuesday.
Marcus Brown led Bible Baptist with 14 points.
Northwood Academy 69, Hilton Head Prep 51: Charlie Wilmot scored a career-high 22 points, but it wasn't enough to lift the Dolphins to their first SCISAA Region 3-AAA win of the season.
Shaun Topper added 15 points and eight rebounds, and Logan Clark had seven steals, four assists and five offensive rebounds for Hilton Head Prep (4-20 overall, 0-7 region). The Dolphins play at Bluffton on Wednesday.
Tayvaughn Major had 13 points to lead Northwood Academy.
Beaufort Academy 53, St. Andrew's 42: Michael Bible had 13 points, nine rebounds, three steals and three blocks, powering the Eagles to a win at home.
Connor Akers added 12 points and four steals for Beaufort Academy, which gained control early and led 26-18 at halftime.
Beaufort Academy (9-9, 6-5) plays at Thomas Heyward Academy on Tuesday.
Charleston Collegiate 72, Thomas Heyward Academy 34: Khalil Davis scored 26 points, and Aaron Willis had 15 as Charleston Collegiate stayed perfect in SCISAA Region 1-AA.
JD Tuten and Bryan Lee Wade had seven points apiece to lead Thomas Heyward (7-11 overall, 3-8 region). Will Richardson and Nick Keiffer each scored six points, Taylor Cowart had four, Joe Laycock had two and Ryan Day scored one for the Rebels, who host Beaufort Academy on Tuesday.
