Bishop Blast tournament: Bluffton High School's girls won three times Saturday at Bishop England's tournament in Hanahan, claiming the championship of their bracket with a 3-2, come-from-behind win over Stratford in the title game.
After Stratford scored twice in the fifth inning, the Bobcats (9-2) rallied with three runs in the sixth. Morganne Parker's leadoff triple started the rally. Summer Lawson had a sacrifice fly, and Mikyla Houghlin and Chelsea Funk had RBI-singles to drive in the Bobcats' runs.
Tournament MVP Courtney Smith got the win, striking out 10 in seven innings. She also was the winner in the Bobcats' 7-2 defeat of Waccamaw and their 3-2 win over James Island.
Against Waccamaw, Parker and Funk were 1 for 2, and Lawson and Melissa Peebles had doubles to lead the offense.
Jamie Toomer's three-run home run in the fourth inning accounted for all of the Bobcats' runs against James Island. Smith struck out 11 in the five-inning game.
Peebles, Parker and Toomer were named to the all-tournament team for Bluffton, which hosts Beaufort High School on Wednesday.
Beaufort High went 2-1 on Saturday in the tournament, falling to Stratford 3-2 before rebounding with a 3-1 win over West Ashley and a 2-1 victory over defending Class 2-A state champion Waccamaw.
Natalie Moore was 2 for 3, Jenny Mullins had a two-run double and Mari Cook doubled in the Eagles' loss to Stratford. Mullins gave up one earned run and struck out seven.
Ariel Promislow earned the win against West Ashley, giving up two hits. She also had two hits at the plate. Molly Clark added two hits and an RBI, and Gabby Maynard had a hit and an RBI.
Promislow also earned the win against Waccamaw, giving up no hits in two innings of relief. Cook had a hit and brought in the go-ahead run on a bases-loaded walk.
Megan Cieplowski was named to all-tournament team for the Eagles (3-2).
Battery Creek went 1-4 at the tournament, edging Bishop England 1-0 for its lone win. Losses came against Stratford (6-0), Hanahan (10-4), Andrews (5-2) and Timberlake 5-3. Lisa Miller and Tori Hill shared mound duties for Battery Creek.
VARSITY GIRLS LACROSSE
Hilton Head High 15, Socastee 3: Sammi Burns had five goals and four assists, and Gabby Avent added five goals and an assist as the Seahawks improved to 2-0 on the season. Jess Morris had a goal and two assists, while Carson Kendrick, Jenna Sheeran, Britney Biggins and Morgan Raffaele had one goal apiece. Abby Ogden had an assist.
Raffaele and Sidney Forester-Py shared goalie duties, with Forester-Py making seven saves in the second half.
The Seahawks play Savannah Club on the road at 11 a.m. next Saturday.
VARSITY BOYS LACROSSE
Hilton Head High 18, Ridge View 10: Nick Roberts had seven goals and two assists, Charlie Jackson had five goals and four assists, and Eric Rzeczycki added three goals as the Seahawks improved to 3-0.
Yannie Reynecke, Will Hagins and Hayden Lovette also scored goals for Hilton Head High. Clayton Reed made seven saves and Madison Gayle had one in goal for the Seahawks, who play at Wando on Wednesday.

Carolina Classic at Mt. Pleasant: Hilton Head High lost one match and tied another at the tournament Saturday following a 3-0 loss Friday to SCISAA's top-rated squad, Pinewood Prep. The Seahawks dropped a 1-0 decision to Stratford before a scoreless draw with Fort Dorchester. Hilton Head High (0-2-1) faces Summerville today.
