After opening the Class 3-A state volleyball playoffs with two easy wins, Hilton Head High expected to be tested at Camden in Monday's third round.
While the games were much closer than the first two rounds, the Seahawks still pulled out a sweep, beating the Bulldogs 25-19, 25-22, 25-15.
Hilton Head High has not lost a set through three rounds of the playoffs.
"The girls were a little nervous at first," Hilton Head High coach Garret Talarczyk said. "It took about half of the first game, then they got comfortable."
Senior setter Melissa Damas led the way with six kills, three blocks and 18 assists.
"Melissa Damas played outstanding today," Talarczyk said. "She really showed her leadership out on the court on offense and defense."
Katie Parent had five blocks, Margo Dill added five kills and Judy Slow contributed 13 kills. Maraia Tremarelli also had a solid defensive night.
The Seahawks (29-4) will host the winner of a North Myrtle Beach/Airport match at 6 p.m. on Wednesday in the Lower State final.
"We're pretty good," Talarczyk said. "The only teams left are No. 1 seeds but we're at home so I'm feeling a little bit more comfortable with this one."
