Four golfers with ties to the state of South Carolina have committed to play in the 2014 RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing.
Former Clemson golfers Jonathan Byrd, Lucas Glover and Kyle Stanley, along with fan-favorite Tommy Gainey of Darlington, have all committed to compete April 14 through April 20 at the famed Harbour Town Golf Links.
Byrd was born in Anderson and now lives on St. Simons Island, Ga. with his wife and three children. He has five victories on the PGA Tour and missed much of the 2013 season after having left-wrist surgery. He has only missed competing at Harbour Town once since joining the PGA Tour in 2002.
Glover was born in Greenville and, like Byrd, lives on St. Simons Island, Ga. with his wife and daughter. He has earned three wins on the PGA Tour, including the 2009 U.S. Open Championship. He has not missed an RBC Heritage since 2003.
Never miss a local story.
Stanley was born in Gig Harbor, Wash., but moved to Bluffton while he attended Clemson. His first win on the PGA Tour was at the 2012 Waste Management Phoenix Open.
As an amateur, Stanley won the 2005 Junior Heritage. He will be competing for the fourth time at the RBC Heritage.
Gainey was born in Darlington and lives in Camden with his wife and son. He earned his first win on the PGA Tour at the 2012 McGladrey Classic. He goes by the nickname "Two Gloves" for wearing two golf gloves when he plays.
Gainey was a participant on Golf Channel's "Big Break V" and later won "Big Break VII". He will be competing at Harbour Town for the sixth time.
