The field for the 2013 RBC Heritage presented by Boeing just got a little orange tint to it.
Four PGA Tour golfers who got their start in South Carolina junior golf and end ended up wearing orange in college will play in this year's RBC Heritage to be held April 15-21 at Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head Island.
Former Clemson Tigers Jonathan Byrd, Lucas Glover and Kyle Stanley, along with former Oklahoma State Cowboy Charles Howell III, have committed to the 45th annual event.
Byrd grew up in Anderson and competed on the Clemson University golf team with Lucas Glover, Charles Warren and D.J. Trahan and played on the 1999 Walker Cup team during his time at Clemson.
Byrd, who has PGA Tour victories, has competed in 10 Heritage tournaments but missed 2012 for the birth of his third child.
Glover grew up in Greenville and was a member of the 2001 Walker Cup team while at Clemson. His three PGA Tour victories include the 2009 U.S. Open. He has played at Harbour Town 10 times.
Stanley, originally from Gig Harbor, Wash., moved to South Carolina in high school before attending Clemson. He competed in both the Sea Pines Junior Heritage , winning in 2005, and the Players Amateur, held at Berkeley Hall in Bluffton.
Stanley earned his first PGA Tour win last year at the Waste Management Phoenix Open and has competed at Harbour Town twice.
Howell grew up in Augusta, Ga. He competed in junior events and won the Sea Pines Junior Heritage in 1994 and 1996. He has two PGA Tour victories and will be making his eighth appearance at the RBC Heritage.
The RBC Heritage is the only PGA Tour event in South Carolina and has been played at the Harbour Town Golf Links since 1969.
The Heritage Classic Foundation, the general tournament sponsor, distributes the proceeds from the tournament to hundreds of nonprofit organizations. Since it was founded as a 501 (c)(3) in 1987, the Foundation has donated more than $23.5 million to people in need.
