Wet conditions had no effect on Greer's Dawn Woodard during Wednesday's second round of the Women's S.C. Golf Association's 66th annual Amateur Championship at the Callawassie Island Club in Okatie.
Heavy rains overnight saturated the Dogwood and Magnolia Course, causing the course to play cart path only. Lift, clean and place through the green in closely-mown areas was in effect.
Woodard, who plays out of the Thornblade Club, took a 10-stroke lead after shooting a 3-under 69. Her round included three birdies and an eagle on the difficult Dogwood No. 6.
Simpsonville's Lea Venable, the 2014 champion who opened the day tied for the lead, struggled through an injury and shot a 7-over 79.
Edgefield's Anne Marie Covar, a first-time competitor in the WSCGA Amateur Championship, is in third place after shooting a 3-over 75. Long Cove's Karen Ferree is the top area player. She shot her second consecutive 11-over 83 and is tied for fifth.
Simpsonville's Betty Jean Armbruster is leading the State Division. Mt. Pleasant's Robin Moyer is leading in the Net Championship and looking to win her first Mytrice Riccoboni Title.
Spartanburg's Brenda Neathery had a hole-in-one on the 112-yard Dogwood No. 5.
Thursday's play will begin with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
