It was a familiar scene Tuesday after the first round of the Women's S.C. Golf Association's 65th Amateur Championship at the Colleton River Plantation's Nicklaus Course.
Greer's Dawn Woodard, of Thornblade Country Club, is leading the field in Bluffton by two strokes after shooting a 4-under-par 68.
Woodard has won five of the past six WSCGA Amateur Championships. The year she did not win, she was competing in the USGA Women's Mid-Amateur.
Even par through the front nine, Woodard recorded five birdies on the back nine. She only faltered on the par-3 12th hole, where she had a bogey.
Simpsonville's Lea Venable is second after shooting a 2-under 70. Hilton Head Island's Renee Rezzatano, of Bear Creek Golf Club, is in third after shooting a 78.
Overall, 96 women are competing in two divisions. The Championship Division is competing for the overall title and playing a yardage of 5,646. The State Division is playing a yardage of 5,035.
