MIAMI -- The University of South Carolina Beaufort men's golf team is in seventh place after the first two rounds of the Dave Adamonis Sr. Invitational hosted by Johnson & Wales.
The Sand Sharks posted team scores of 295 and 303 in the first two rounds Monday on the par-70 Red Tiger course at Trump National Doral Golf Club. USCB's total of 598 puts the Sand Sharks 29 shots off the pace set by Wayland Baptist (569), which leads Oklahoma City by one shot and Coastal Georgia by seven.
Senior Chandler McDonald (73-74--147) led the way for USCB on Monday and is tied for 21st, followed by junior Jud Milam (74-75--149) in a tie for 31st and senior Chris Finke (75-75--150) in a tie for 39th. Senior Chandler Vilcheck (73-79--152) is tied for 47th and junior Brad Curren (82-88--170) is in 99th.
Wayland Baptist's Steven Diack (66-70--136) fired two strong rounds and tops the leaderboard at 4-under-par, giving him a four-shot lead over teammate Ryan Connolly (69-71--140) and Johnson & Wales' Zack Ross (71-69--140).
The final round begins with an 8 a.m. shotgun start Tuesday.
