The USC Beaufort women's golf team finished where it started Monday at the Wingate Pinehurst Challenge, placing third among an 18-team made up primarily of NCAA Division II schools.
The Sand Sharks posted a team score of 334 on Monday to finish the 36-hole event at 666, one shot behind second-place Lee (Tenn.) and 28 behind champion Armstrong Atlantic.
Senior Kendra Collins (81-82--163) led the way for the 15th-ranked Sand Sharks, tying for eighth. Junior Samantha O'Donnell (80-85--165) was 12th, followed by sophomore Lina Sekerkova (82-85--167) in a tie for 15th and junior Tori DeGroodt (89-82--171) in a tie for 22nd. Sophomore Hayley Miller (92-101--193) rounded out the lineup in a tie for 74th.
The Sand Sharks will play a three-team match against top-ranked SCAD Savannah and Mount Mercy on Friday at Old South Golf Links in their final tune-up before the Sun Conference Championship from April 11 to April 15 at Lake Wales (Fla.) Country Club.
