The USC Beaufort men's and women's golf teams turned in impressive performances at the 25th annual Eagle Invitational, which wrapped up Tuesday at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla.
The men's team posted its second straight runner-up finish and placed ahead of all its Sun Conference rivals, while the women's team finished third.
Led by individual runner-up Brad Curren and third-place finisher Brian Langley, the 18th-ranked Sand Sharks recorded matching rounds of 290 to finish the rain-shortened event at 580, 12 shots behind No. 6 William Woods (Mo.). The event was played on the Champions Course, the same track that will host the NAIA Men's Golf National Championship from May 13 to May 16.
USCB finished ahead of conference rivals No. 11 Webber International (Fla.), No. 12 Johnson & Wales (Fla.), No. 14 Northwood (Fla.) and No. 23 Southeastern (Fla.).

Curren followed an opening 73 with a 4-under-par 68 -- the low round of the tournament -- to finish one shot behind William Woods' Julian Taylor (69-71--140) and Langley (70-72--142) tied for third to lead USCB. Chandler Vilcheck (73-74--147) tied for 22nd, while Alan Cooke (74-76--150) tied for 41st and Chandler McDonald (75-80--155) tied for 76th.
On the women's side, the 15th-ranked Sand Sharks posted a team score of 653 in the 36-hole event, finishing 13 shots behind No. 6 Northwood (Fla.) and nine back of host No. 14 Embry-Riddle (Fla.). USCB finished ahead of No. 7 Coastal Georgia, No. 5 William Woods (Mo.) and No. 17 Northwood (Texas).
Junior Samantha O'Donnell (75-81--156) led the Sand Sharks, tying for fourth place after going into the final round with a share of the lead. Senior Kendra Collins (77-80--157) tied for seventh, while sophomore Lina Sekerkova (86-79--165) tied for 15th. Junior Tori DeGroodt (91-84--175) tied for 35th and sophomore Hayley Miller (100-93--193) tied for 58th to round out the lineup.
Lauren Kruszewski of Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) won the individual title at 9-over-par 153.
Next up for the women is the Wingate Pinehurst Challenge on Sunday and Monday at The National Club in Pinehurst, N.C. The men play in the Marine Federal Credit Union Intercollegiate from March 27 to March 30 in Camp LeJeune, N.C.
