University of South Carolina Beaufort softball coach Laura Heberling has completed her coaching staff, adding Danny Rubino as an assistant coach.
Rubino has more than 20 years coaching fastpitch softball at all levels. He spent 12 seasons as an assistant coach at the college level, including an 11-year stint at Young Harris College in Georgia. Rubino, who helped the Mountain Lions to a 271-211 record, was also the camp director and lead hitting instructor for the program.
"Danny is an outstanding softball coach who will help our program continue the success we've enjoyed the past two years," Heberling said. "He has an incredible work ethic and is a true student of the game. He's extremely knowledgable about the technical aspects of the sport and has a proven record of passing along that expertise to his players."
Heberling knows of Rubino's coaching prowess first-hand -- she played for him at Young Harris as a freshman and sophomore before completing her associate's degree and moving on to UNC Pembroke to finish her career. She also is excited about Rubino's extensive recruiting contacts throughout the Southeast.
Never miss a local story.

In addition, Rubino is a highly-sought hitting instructor and speaker who has worked with youth, middle and high school, collegiate, international and professional players.
Rubino earned an associate's degree in education from Young Harris in 2007 and a bachelor's degree in history in 2012.
