The USC Beaufort men's golf team cut nine strokes off its first-round score and moved up one spot to finish fifth at the Doublegate Invitational on Tuesday at Doublegate Country Club in Albany, Ga.
The Sand Sharks had a team score of 299 in the final round of the nine-team event. Sophomore Andrew McCullough's all-tournament performance was the highlight for USCB, as McCullough posted scores of 1-over 73 in both rounds to tie for fifth.
Freshman Cory Cottrell (80-72--152) posted the team's best score on Tuesday and was USCB's No. 2 finisher, followed by junior Brian Langley (76-78--154), senior Travis Cashion (79-78--157) and junior Owen Bell (84-76--160).

Taylor Martin shot a final-round 69 to win medalist honors and give host Darton State the team title.
The 21st-ranked Sand Sharks host NCAA Division I Seton Hall University at 12:30 p.m. Friday at Oldfield Golf Club.

Host Armstrong Atlantic (607) claimed the team title by eight shots over Lander. Flagler College (625) was third, followed by SCAD Savannah (627) and Central Oklahoma (630). USCB finished with a two-day total of 649.
Senior Kaitlin O'Sullivan (79-81--160) was USCB's top finisher in a tie for 19th, followed by senior Kelli Nakano (81-82--163) and sophomore Samantha O'Donnell (80-83--163) in a tie for 23rd. Sophomore Tori DeGroodt (83-82--165) tied for 30th, and senior Phyllis Langley (87-81--168) finished 36th.
Lander's Theresa Hernani (76-69--145) won the individual title by one shot over Armstrong Atlantic's Jenna Birch (74-72--146) and SCAD Savannah's Alazne Urizar (71-75--146).
Next up for the 12th-ranked Sand Sharks is the Hilton Head Lakes Invitational at Hilton Head Lakes Golf Club in Hardeeville, which will be hosted by Pfeiffer University on March 11-12.
