Twenty-six teams from throughout the Southeast will flock to the Hardeeville school complex and Sgt. Jasper Park for Saturday's Asics Sand Shark Cross Country Invitational. The University of South Carolina Beaufort's sixth annual race, which will be run on a fast course that has been adapted to accommodate the event's largest field ever. The 8-kilometer men's race will begin at 9 a.m. with the 5-kilometer women's race to follow at 9:45.
The event also will benefit a local breast cancer support group. USCB runners will wear special white and pink singlets, which will be sold in a silent auction with the proceeds going to Hope and Healing. Additionally, any breast cancer survivors in attendance will be honored before the awards ceremony.
