SALEM, Ore. -- The University of South Carolina Beaufort men's golf team posted the second-best round of the day and made a big move up the leaderboard into a tie for 11th after three rounds at the NAIA Men's Golf National Championships at Creekside Golf Club.
After rounds of 312 and 311 on the first two days, the Sand Sharks posted a 1-under-par 287 on Thursday to jump four spots in the team standings. Only Oklahoma City posted a better team score with a 286.
Sophomore Brian Langley (80-77-69--226) led USCB's big turnaround, shooting 3-under par to move into a tie for 40th. Senior Mark Phillips (74-82-71--227) is tied for 46th, senior Jack Bingham (81-75-75--231) is tied for 71st, senior Luke McClellan (81-77-74--232) and sophomore Coley Davis (77-85-73--235) is tied for 97th.
Oklahoma Christian shot 292 to maintain a three-shot lead over Our Lady of the Lake. Oklahoma City is four shots back in third, and Johnson & Wales is five shots behind in fifth.
