The USC Beaufort softball team had its nine-game winning streak snapped but rebounded to start another one Thursday, losing 5-4 to St. Ambrose (Iowa) before beating Brewton-Parker (Ga.) 7-3 to wrap up the Smash Hit Softball Classic at Richard Gray Sports Complex in Hardeeville.
The Sand Sharks (18-2) led 3-0 early against St. Ambrose, as junior shortstop C.J. Browder blasted a two-run home run in the first inning and sophomore first baseman Taylor Triplett added an RBI single in the third.

Sophomore Caitlin Campbell (6-2) took the tough-luck loss for USCB, allowing two unearned runs over 2 2-3 innings of relief.
The Sand Sharks beat Brewton-Parker in the final game of the event.
