Mount Union offensive tackle Brooks Jenkins, a former Hilton Head Island standout, was named Monday to the NCAA Division III Coaches’ All-America team.
Jenkins is a three-year starter for the Purple Raiders, making every start at left tackle this season and playing a key role as Mount Union led all Division III teams in first downs (356) and ranked sixth in scoring offense at 45.7 points per game.
The Raiders (12-2), who also rank among the division’s top 20 in total offense and rushing offense, reached the Division III semifinals for a 22nd consecutive season before falling to Mary Hardin-Baylor last weekend.
It marked the first time since 2004 that Mount Union came up short of reaching the Division III championship game.
Never miss a local story.
Jenkins also was selected for the Ohio Athletic Conference’s Ken Wable Award as the league’s top lineman, punctuating a second consecutive season on the all-conference team.
Jenkins is one of three Beaufort County players on the Mount Union roster, joined by fellow linemen Tyler Rentz (Beaufort) and Sam Jones (Hilton Head Island).
