If it looks as if Hilton Head's Dixie Boys All-Stars have been here before, it's because they have.
And if they look better than they did a year ago playing as 13-year-olds, it's because they probably are.
The Hilton Head squad continued in its dominating start in the District 8 tournament, defeating Bluffton 17-1 in five innings Tuesday at Burton Wells Park.
Hilton Head coach Bill Keen pointed to solid bats as a reason for another fast start to the all-star season. He brings back much of the same group that won the state tournament last year as 13-year-olds and added leadoff man Cameron Bent, who returned to the area after a move, and picked up catcher Collin Kaiser.
"We don't really have any weaknesses in the lineup," Keen said.
Bent was 3 for 4 Tuesday, with a triple, RBI and three runs scored. Kaiser doubled twice and drove in three runs.
Hilton Head has scored 47 runs through two games and won both by run rule. It faces Summerville on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Summerville defeated Beaufort 11-1 on Monday.
Hilton Head delivered 16 hits Tuesday. Right fielder John Burke was 3 for 5 and drove in three runs.
While the bats hummed along, Hilton Head pitcher Koty Brigham held down the Bluffton lineup with help from his curveball.
"It's what I throw when I have a 2-2 count," said Brigham, who also drove in three runs from his spot batting third. "Something that's close, I feel comfortable going to it."
Brigham allowed only three hits and struck out nine through four innings before Kaiser closed out the final inning.
Hilton Head led 6-1 before an 11-run fifth inning, nearly batting through the lineup twice. Bluffton used four pitchers.
Bluffton coach Anthony Marzbanian said his team expected to compete with Hilton Head. The Bluffton All-Stars opened with a 20-2 victory over Moncks Corner on Monday.
They play Thursday against the loser of Wednesday's Hilton Head-Summerville game.
"Great coaching, great players -- all around, they're a very talented team," Marzbanian said. "We expect to see them playing in the championship game."
