The 22nd annual Hilton Head Hospital Jingle Jingle 5K Run and Health Walk will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday.
The race will follow a course on and around the Hilton Head Hospital Campus and Main Street, according to event organizer Mark Weisner of Bear Foot Sports.
"The race features a colorful seasonal theme and provides participants a chance to burn off those extra holiday calories," Weisner said. "We love it when our runners get in the spirit of the season, and any participant who wears an elf or Santa costume will receive a $5 Bear Foot Sports discount coupon."
The first 500 participants to sign up will receive a long-sleeveed T-shirt, jingle bells and a candy cane. An award ceremony, featuring a visit from Santa, refreshments, hot cider, music and door prizes will be held following the race.
Holiday prizes will be presented to the top three overall male and female finishers. In addition, the top three in each age category also will receive unique holiday awards.
This year's race will include the Blue Cross Blue Shield of S.C. Children's Fun Run for kids 6 and younger. The race is broken into two heats -- a 25-yard run for kids 3 and younger and a 100-yard run for ages 4 to 6. Race entry includes running number, T-shirt, and prizes for finishers.
A percentage of proceeds will benefit The Zoe Foundation Harper Project. Additionally, participants are asked to bring gift cards or phone cards for donations to benefit Citizens Opposed to Domestic Abuse.
People who donate gift or phone cards will qualify to win a Publix Holiday Gift Package valued at more than $150.
