South Carolina third baseman Joey Pankake and Clemson pitcher Daniel Gossett have been named to the National College Baseball Writers Association Preseason All-American teams.
Pankake, named to the second team, is one of the top returning hitters in the SEC and the country.
A participant in last year's Home Run Derby at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, the third baseman raised his average to .311 last year to go along with 11 homers and 42 RBI and a slugging percentage of .496. Perfect Game USA ranks him No. 30 on the list of top college draft-eligible players for the 2014 MLB Draft with Baseball America listing him No. 40 in the nation.
Gossett, a junior right-hander, was named to the third team.

The second-team All-ACC selection had a 10-4 record and 2.56 ERA in 98 1/3 innings pitched over 16 starts as a sophomore in 2013. He allowed only 78 hits (.213 opponents' batting average) with 91 strikeouts and was in the top 10 in the ACC in wins, starts, opponents' batting average, strikeouts, innings pitched, and ERA.
In two seasons as a Tiger, Gossett has a 16-7 record, two saves, and a 3.34 ERA along with a .216 opponents' batting average and 178 strikeouts.
