It's one big weekend for the Yacht Club of Hilton Head Island in the Calibogue Sound.
The club will host two regattas -- the 44th Harbour Town Cup on Saturday and the 43rd Calibogue Cup on Sunday.
"These two regattas are the two oldest continually run races in the Carolinas," regatta chairman and race officer Jim Vaughn said.
One is traditionally held in the spring and one in the fall, but both are being rolled into the Island Packet Cup in one weekend to increase participation.
Never miss a local story.
"I don't know if it will work, but it's worth a try," Vaughn said.
The Harbour Town trophy is the overall trophy for Saturday. The Calibogue Cup has two trophies for the two different classes on Sunday.
The Island Packet Cup, a trophy donated to the club more than 40 years ago, will go to the captain who is the overall best of the two regattas. The winner will be determined using the performance handicap rating formula to level the playing field for the different classes.
