South Carolina and North Carolina will have to wait another day to determine which is the real Carolina. Game 3 of the Chapel Hill Super Regional has officially been postponed and will now be played at noon Tuesday.
The game will be televised by ESPN2.
The winner will advance to the College World Series in Omaha, which begins Saturday.
The Gamecocks had been expected to send freshman left-hander Jack Wynkoop (7-3, 2.92 ERA) to the hill. He was to be opposed by Tar Heels right-hander Benton Moss (8-1, 3.78 ERA). It's unclear if the postponement will change either team's pitching plans.
North Carolina (56-10) posted a walk-off 6-5 win in the series opener on Saturday afternoon, but South Carolina (43-19) staved off elimination with an 8-0 shutout win on Sunday behind the four-hit complete game performance from sophomore left-hander Jordan Montgomery.
The winner of the South Carolina-North Carolina series will face the winner of the N.C. State-Rice Super Regional in the first round of the CWS in Omaha. UCLA (42-17) and fourth-seeded LSU (55-9) are also on the same side of the bracket.
