Sunday's paper featured an article on 3A regarding the shooting suspects who are accused of being involved with the killing of the little boy, Kahlil Singleton, just off Marshland Rd on Sept.1, 2012.
What happened to that little boy is so hard for me to understand. He was just playing in his yard, enjoying life, and his life was ended that day. He was a victim of what never should have happened. He was just 8-years-old.
Every time I see an article in the paper regarding this terrible tragedy it makes me think of my children when they were that age. It's just very sad.
I wonder where Al Sharpton, Jessie Jackson and President Obama were when this little boy's life was ended that day. Maybe they contacted the family; I don't know.
They were all able to comment and participate in what happened in Ferguson, Mo., which was also a tragedy that is still being debated before a grand jury.
The two tragedies are not similar. This little boy could not defend himself at all. I hope that the justice system moves quickly to be sure whoever was involved is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
I have lived on the island for 14 years, and I'm not sure I have ever seen such a senseless lose of life.
