President Obama characterized ISIS, the radical Islam terrorist organization, as the "JV team" of terrorists. In fairness, he probably would not repeat that assessment now. But it is rather perverse that the world's ruthless and vicious regimes, such as ISIS, Russia's Vladimir Putin, Syria's Assad and Hamas, have taken measure of the U.S.'s leadership and act as if we have the JV team.
I wish it were not so. But look at our team of John Kerry, Chuck Hagel, Susan Rice, Samantha Powers, Valarie Jarrett and Ben Rhodes. Where is the wise one, the one with gravitas, the one with the steady hand and sage advice about the world's perils?
Obama made a major foreign policy address at West Point's commencement on May 28. Informed observers paraphrased his speech as that what has happened in foreign affairs during his administration is exactly what he planned. We are in an era of foreign radical homeland dispersal and killing of Christians. I fear the stewardship of our JVs will not change and what happens in the future will be whatever the world gets from the U.S. leading from behind. Sorrowfully, that's probably all our JVs have the ability to do.
The international community needs a leader. Obama is busy. He is expanding Mitt Romney's 47 percent and fundraising from the top 1 percent. Elections have consequences. Really.
