The U.S. government's debt is $17.5 trillion dollars. Let's pretend dollars are seconds -- 17.5 trillion in seconds equals approximately 550,000 years. Human civilization has existed about 7,000 years. The estimated increase in federal debt for 2014 alone when converted into seconds equals 15,850 years. Every year of interest payments at 4 percent equals 22,196 years. Nice gift to our young, isn't it?
In effect, workers who receive 100 percent of their income from a governmental body do not pay taxes. IRS agents, police officers, teachers, etc. receive 100 percent of their salaries from a government body. Some of the salary is returned to the government and is called taxation. But they still collect 100 percent of what they keep from a government. Those of us who do not work for a government must pay for their services.
Anybody think additional debt, more government employees or increasing freebies is a good deal for the taxpayers? Vote.
