The song "Three Coins in the Fountain" came to mind when I read three letters in a recent edition of the paper -- but I substituted the word clowns for coins.
The first letter disputes the fact that humans are directly responsible for climate change. The writer states numerous American "scientists" have disputed that fact. However the scientists he references are not climatologists. Rather, they have degrees in other disciplines. That would be the same as having a civil engineer give you a second opinion on your cancer diagnosis.
The second writer questions the president's economic recovery actions. He conveniently forgets this country was knee deep in its second great depression when President Obama took office, and our financial system was on the verge of a total collapse.
It took this country well over 10 years to recover from its first Great Depression and that was with the support of Congress. After five years, we are well on our way to a full economic recovery with a do-nothing Congress.
The third writer sings the praises of our congressman, Rep. Mark Sanford, our do-nothing representative. Sanford votes against everything, including women, children, blacks, Hispanics, and even veterans.
There were eight individuals in both houses who voted against the veterans' health care legislation. Sanford was one of those infamous eight.
He forfeited our support when he turned his back on his wife and children and the people of South Carolina by opting for the Appalachian Trail/Argentina.
