Regarding the Israel/Hamas conflict, my simplistic view is the Palestinians in Gaza have had almost 10 years to put the past behind them and join the civilized world, but they instead have chosen to accept a militant government, arm themselves to the teeth and rain rockets on civilian Israeli targets in an unprovoked action.
If Cuba fired more than 3,000 rockets at civilian targets in Florida, I would hope the reaction of the U.S. government would not be conciliation and negotiation (though with President Barack Obama and John Kerry, who knows). I would hope our response would be to forcibly occupy Cuba -- a preferable alternative to turning Cuba into a sea of radioactive glass.
The bleeding hearts that are upset that Palestinians are being pounded need to remember that the tunnels built between Gaza and Israel were for the purpose of infiltrating Israel to kill and kidnap its citizens. Hamas fired 3,000 rockets into Israel in 2008 and were punished for it. It was insane to do it again and expect a different outcome.
