Hilton Head Island has a treasure on Tuesdays at Shelter Cove Community Park, sponsored by the Island Recreation Center. This summer, local families and guests have the opportunity to come and have dinner and shop at the Shelter Cover Farmers Market, starting at 4 p.m.
Participants can bring lawn chairs and stay for Summer Jams that starts at 7 p.m., followed by the weekly Shelter Cove fireworks display shortly after 9 p.m. And all of this with no admission charge.
On a recent visit to the park, people were listening to music and browsing the vendors at the Farmers Market that included everything from great food to local produce to jewelry and handmade items. Children were having fun with inflatable bounce houses, juggling performances and face painting.
As an island resident for more than 30 years, I look forward to Summer Jams every year in the beautiful natural environment of Shelter Cove Community Park along the Broad Creek. We are fortunate to have the talented and dedicated staff at the Island Recreation Center throwing a party for us every week in the summer and providing a wealth of recreation opportunities year round.
Never miss a local story.
Be sure to get out there by August 12 for Summer Jams; the farmers market continues through fall. Come out and enjoy, support your community and don't miss the fun.
