If you are expecting a baby, please be are aware of several changes in obstetrical care in Beaufort County that might affect your delivery. These include:
These changes have caused some confusion, so we want to be sure that you understand your options so that your birthing experience goes smoothly. We recommend that you clarify with your current OB-GYN where he/she will be delivering your baby. Only physicians who are on Beaufort Memorial Hospital's medical staff are able to deliver at our birthing center.
Earlier this year, the hospital opened its own OB-GYN practice in order to ensure birthing services will always be available in Beaufort. Our four board-certified OB-GYNs, as well as physicians from Beaufort-Jasper-Hampton Comprehensive Care, are delivering at Beaufort Memorial.
However, if your OB-GYN does not have privileges at Beaufort Memorial, but you have an emergency and need to come to Beaufort Memorial for care, a member of our medical staff will handle your emergency and deliver your baby, if necessary. We will take care of you regardless of who the attending OB-GYN is, and will reach out to your OB-GYN to coordinate the best care possible.
Beaufort Memorial remains committed to providing quality birthing services while continuing the hospital's 70-year tradition of delivering babies in the community.
