How sad it is to mourn the passing of a brave and humble generation whose members said, "We only did what needed to be done." Now, we are saddled with an incompetent and scandal-ridden administration that refuses to face up to the real challenges of America's future.
As each scandal or challenge unfolds, we get another speech or photo op and promises to take action once a study is done -- and then it is off to another fundraiser or campaign rally. The study becomes a delay technique or coverup. And accountability and corrective action never happens. Despite a national balance sheet in bankruptcy with unsustainable debt, we continue to expand the entitlement state and pile more and more debt on our children and grandchildren.
This is the latest form of political corruption that replaces illegal cash bribes outside the polling stations. Obamacare is just the latest of these unaffordable entitlements that are both fundamentally flawed and incompetently executed.
We see the small-minded politicians in office attempting to stay there by handouts, deception, divisive rhetoric and the demonizing of opponents. There is no realistic positive agenda or national strategy for entitlement reform, tax reform, energy policy, spending reduction, public education reform, eliminating political corruption in the civil service or limiting the excessive power of an incompetent, bloated bureaucracy.
The greatest generation has passed the leadership torch on to a selfish and self-absorbed group who have ended America's greatness and destroyed the American dream for future generations.
