I would like to comment on the previous letter, "A moment of truth for Vietnam veteran."
I also was one of the people who received a card, thanking us "heroes." It was placed on my windshield at the Bi-Lo store on Parris Island Gateway.
I served in 1968 and 1969 and am so proud that I was one of the ones who came home only to get spit on, called "baby killer," etc.
Rebecca made my day as I cried when I read her card. Unfortunately, I misplaced it but found it a couple of weeks ago and sent her a card of thanks. I only hope that she receives it as I wasn't sure of how to address it as I wasn't sure of her last name.
Never miss a local story.
As a retired U.S. Marine Corps sergeant major, I want to thank Rebecca for doing this.
