Many Jasper County citizens are appalled that County Council candidate Samuel Gregory, who made an extremely distasteful post on Facebook, is still working with and influencing the children of our schools.
I have written to superintendent Vashti Washington and the school board requesting the termination of Gregory. It was my hope that the Jasper County School District would celebrate children for who they are and not by the color of their skin. Obviously, Gregory does not feel this way and his influence on the children should in no way be tolerated.
Honestly ask yourself, if this were a white man spreading hate toward other races, do you believe he would still have a job?
I asked Washington to do the right thing by making Gregory an example that this type of hate and bigotry would not be tolerated and will not be allowed to influence our children.
But it seems since I have exercised my First Amendment rights, Washington will not have a dialogue with me. It's another cop-out from a poor administrator.
I think the public should voice its concern over the situation. One voice can make a difference, but many voices can change the world.
