I read the article in the May 5 Beaufort Gazette: "The diaper problem."
It talked about how depressing it is for many Americans when they cannot afford diapers for their children, and how much the diapers cost.
Sadly, I am one of those Americans who cannot afford disposable diapers for my child so I found an alternative -- cloth diapers. These are not the cloth diapers of your grandmother's generation. They have improved.
The article did not even touch base on that solution.
There are programs to help people in need get information about cloth diapers, and cloth diapers are available to those who cannot afford them, through www.clothforeverybum.org.
I believe that would take the power back to the mothers, and lessen the need for a public response to supply disposable diapers to families in need.
