You recently reprinted an editorial by The (Charleston) Post and Courier on efforts to amend an ignored state law on card playing.
The good efforts of Sen. Tom Davis deserves recognition and applause. According to the editorial, the vast majority of state residents view the outdated law as ridiculous. So what does this suggest about the political psyche of current and recently-elected officials?
Dedication plus an inordinate amount of personal sacrifice are needed to be a good elected official, and Davis and others of his ilk in our state should be thanked and saluted for having it. Those who cannot make this commitment should not be reelected.
