Beaufort County school superintendent Jeff Moss should read Sarah Bowman's March 23 article, "Which educational tech model works best?"
When considering whether to spend $10 million to equip roughly 20,000 students and 1,500 teachers with a particular type of electronic tablet, (the 1:1 method) a key factor to consider is that technology changes rapidly.
This is noted by Dylan Curtis of Hilton Head Christian Academy as a primary reason for choosing the "bring your own device" (BYOD) method.
Choosing the 1:1 method will inevitably lead to either requiring students to use obsolete technology or spending further millions to upgrade the student devices.
Never miss a local story.
Neither of these consequences makes sense.
