It's been with great interest that I have read about the Town of Hilton Head Island's grand plans for its many public projects.
They include the linear park from Shelter Cove Towne Center to the mid-island parks, redevelopment of the Coligny Plaza Circle area, an island campus for the University of South Carolina Beaufort and a sailing/rowing complex on Skull Creek,. The problem is, the town does not have the money needed for all of these projects.
Simple solution. Why doesn't the town sell the 105 acres of Planters Row Golf Course back to the Port Royal Property Owners Association so that entity can develop it as planned? This being the same property the town paid $5 million for with the fabulous foresight of, "We don't know what we want to do with it." C'mon guys. Can't you be a little more proactive with taxpayer funds rather than reactionary?
Never miss a local story.
