Watch out for tricky, misleading advertising

I have two complaints today. The first is the mad rush for the almighty dollar, which starts at Halloween, when the first ads for Christmas begin to appear on radio and TV and in newspapers. Am I the only one who thinks that this attention to the bottom line is not the purpose of the holidays? They are supposed to be enjoyed with the family and to be a chance for respite from the pressures of the day. Lord knows we certainly need it now. Maybe we should take a page from a "Seinfeld" episode, where George's father declares a new holiday that he has invented, called Festivus, and he combines all of the holidays into one.
