Another letter writer (Oct. 15) is unhappy with Gary Trudeau's "Doonesbury" because he has allegedly taken his comic strip and turned it "into a right-wing hatchet job."
Well, for readers who are moderate to liberal -- and I count myself one of them -- Trudeau is a voice of sanity against the continued negativity of the tea party "wackos," as Sen. John McCain describes them: Sen. Ted Cruz, Rep. Michelle Bachmann and Donald Trump.
These people live in the alternative universe of those who seek to bring down the government by non-democratic means when they can't get their way by electing enough senators and congressmen to have a legitimate up and down vote on the issues.
As a former Navy pilot, I also appreciate "Doonesbury" because it compassionately champions the cause of those who have been wounded and damaged in our senseless wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
This comic strip doesn't need to be censored; it needs to be celebrated.
