There has been an inordinate amount of rhetoric of late regarding the Affordable Care Act. As he likes to do, the president has drawn his line in the sand, and unlike the line he drew with Syria, this line apparently will not disappear.
Our disingenuous and morally bankrupt media have further clouded the issue with their predictable agenda-driven reporting. For the first time in my life, I find myself linked with Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid in the fact that none of us has read the law. In fact, I would bet whatever money the government has not taken from me that you could assemble all the people who have actually read this law at the IHOP on U.S. 278.
However, the wise people who purport to represent you and me in Washington know enough about the law that they quickly excluded themselves, their staffs, and at last count, more than 1,800 organizations from participation. Would anyone care to hazard a guess as to which party these exempted companies and unions contributed money to in the most recent election?
So we have the alleged smartest man in the world, Barack Obama, jamming, as his signature piece of legislation, the Affordable Care Act upon a nation in which many people don't want it. In the early '90s, we had the alleged smartest woman in the world, Hillary Clinton, trying to do the same thing. These people always know what is best for us, but conveniently, exempt themselves.
Never miss a local story.
