My head exploded when I read the Sept. 14 letter regarding Democrats and President Barack Obama cutting active-duty military pay raises from 1.8 percent to 1 percent.
Obama refuses to give them raises comparable to the private sector.
During Obama's tenure, military raises declined from 3.9 percent in 2009 to 1 percent in 2014. It apparently doesn't matter that these men and women on a daily basis risk their lives and limbs protecting us. Obama doesn't visit veterans as Bush did to see their struggle trying to adjust to normal living without arms, legs, etc. He should cancel one golf outing to go see how these brave men and women are coping with their injuries.
Many of these families' earnings are below the poverty level; they rely on welfare and food stamps to survive. They should go on strike as Obama's unions do and demand a $15 hourly wage.
We send billions of foreign aid to countries that hate us, lose billions on bad investments (i.e., Solyndra), spend billions on pork projects, and give raises and bonuses to agencies, such as the National Security Agency and the Internal Revenue Service. Members of Congress never miss raises for their staff or themselves. Where are Obama's priorities?
If Obama really wants to stop spending money foolishly, he should cancel one of his family's expensive vacations. Our military deserves a decent raise.
