I think Doug Mayer, spokesman for Gov. Nikki Haley, must have calculated wrong.
Recently, he noted that "the majority of South Carolinians support a traditional marriage between a man and a woman." I must have missed that poll because although I reside in South Carolina, I am not among his so-called majority supporting traditional marriage. I would have thought the governor's office would provide more accurate information instead of assuming that most Republicans and Democrats in this state oppose gay marriage.
I am a proponent of marriage equality. In my former state of Virginia, I would bet that our governor's office would not provide inaccurate, unfounded information about the opinions of Virginians on marriage. Leave it to the archaic people in public office in South Carolina to assume that most South Carolinians support traditional marriage.
