Our Congress (both parties) does not work. The reason is that many politicians spend time buying their next elections with bribes.
For example, many citizens vote for whoever provides the greatest cradle-to-grave entitlements. The idea of "ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country" is rejected. American culture is bleeding by increasing dependency on government.
While our legislative branch falters, our executive branch fills the void. It's not a violent transparent coup, but a slow creeping transformation into disguised dictatorship (using "fiats" and appointing "czars"), modified socialism (control and stimulus financing of production), and early stage communism (redistribution of wealth). Are we unknowingly permitting our heritage and liberties to be thrown away?
The expressed administration goal is fundamental transformation -- starting over. The quickest, most subtle way to transformation is economic chaos that produces bankruptcy. Inflation eventually skyrockets, and the value of our dollar collapses. Overreaction? Our cumulative federal debt is nearly $17 trillion and annual deficits continue as far as the eye can see. Such debt now exceeds our gross domestic product of $16 trillion, which some economists say is a prelude to economic collapse. Yet our government continues to borrow and print more money. Why? We know this is wrong. Detroit bailout next?
Beginning in 2014, decide how we, the people, want our government to operate. My decision begins with an emphasis on term limits and balanced budget amendments to our Constitution.
