In the past few weeks we find that:
Never miss a local story.
But instead of giving these issues of national import the thorough coverage they deserve, the news media spent much of the past few weeks focused on the George Zimmerman trial and in particular the question of race. That despite the fact that not one shred of evidence, testimony or FBI investigation can find any link to racism.
And just when that cry of "racist" was dying down, President Barack Obama inserted himself into the matter with a personal reflection on what it's like to be black in America. In his usual style of making everything about him, he went so far as to say he had been racially profiled and "Trayvon Martin could have been me 35 years ago." How disgraceful that a president of the United States would seek to divide us on race.
By pandering to the race profiteers, Obama gave the circus new life and deflected attention from the greater issues mentioned above. It's a sure sign that in the era of Obama, we've gone beyond political corruption to a corruption of the soul.
