A miasma of scandal hangs over the Obama White House. Sadly, it's no coincidence that the most damning revelations came after the 2012 election.
When President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton greeted the caskets of our ambassador and three other Americans murdered in Benghazi, Libya, both knew it was a terrorist attack with al-Qaida ties. Yet, they told grieving family members and the American people repeatedly that the attack was prompted by an Internet video. Emails disclose the administration knew that wasn't true from the beginning.
For years, tea party groups complained they were being singled out for suppressive tactics by the Internal Revenue Service, yet their complaints were dismissed by the same mainstream media, which largely ignored Obama's and the Democrats' repeated attacks on conservative groups and those who dared to offer political dissent. A fish rots from the head down.
The "news" media finally woke up when it learned that the Obama administration was spying on Associated Press reporters, including some who did their best to block any wider discussion of the corruption and deceit of this administration.
Never miss a local story.
To paraphrase an old saying: Power corrupts, and power unchecked by a truly fair and balanced media, willing to inform the public even when the news damages their own preferred political class, corrupts absolutely and does a disservice to the nation and to the media profession.
The biggest scandal here is the media's failure to inform the American people in time for them to remove this stain on our national character.
