At the risk of offending some friends and neighbors, I must voice my opinion about the story discussing the Greater Bluffton Republican Club's "door prize" of an AR-15.
I have quietly endured many rabid political rantings of others, but this incensed me to the boiling point. While I consider myself an independent voter, neither ultra-liberal nor ultra-conservative, I find myself leaning far left of the middle on this one.
The fact that the club finds this type of "door prize" acceptable reveals a lot about the character of the members of this club. More than 90 percent of the public has voiced concern about the availability and even the need for these military-type weapons to be in the hands of the public. It is outrageous, but certainly not all that surprising, to know that a local Republican club would want to raffle off a military weapon as a door prize.
