On behalf of the board of trustees of Family Promise of Beaufort County, I would like to extend our gratitude and appreciation for the $75,000 grant in support of our capital campaign, "Transformation: The Campaign to End Homelessness in Beaufort County."
There are more than 250 homeless children in our community. One homeless child is too many. The time for change is now.
The $1 million capital campaign is aimed at building a new, expanded day center, the hub of operations for Family Promise's shelter program. The center provides a safe place for families to search for employment and permanent housing. We have an opportunity in Family Promise to take a meaningful step toward solving the crisis of homelessness in Beaufort County. We can solve this intractable problem instead of just managing it. It is a reachable goal.
We are thankful for the continued support of the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry. Working together with congregations, our staff and support from organizations, such as the foundation, we are able to change the lives of homeless families in Beaufort County and help them achieve sustainable independence.
It is a pleasure and privilege to work together to better the community in which we live.
