Literacy Volunteers of the Lowcountry extends our sincere appreciation to Hargray for its continued support of our critical mission of equipping adults in Beaufort County with the reading, writing, math and speaking skills they need to be successful at home, work and in their community.
Through Hargray Caring Coins, Literacy Volunteers received much-needed funding to purchase more than 30 Rosetta Stone licenses. Literacy Volunteers uses computer-assisted learning as an enhancement to the one-on-one or classroom programs we offer our students.
Every day, our computer labs are filled with students wearing headphones and pronouncing sounds and words that they use in everyday reading, writing and speaking. We find that our students who have access to Rosetta Stone spend more time in the pursuit of learning. As a result, their skills increase, allowing them to attain higher levels of literacy and ultimately higher levels of self-sufficiency.
We applaud Hargray's investment in our community. We see firsthand the difference it makes in the lives of the people who live here.
Thank you, Hargray, for your continued support of the agencies in Beaufort County that work diligently to improve the quality of life for us all.
