I reflect on the hope of Easter and Passover. In contrast, I reflect on our endless slaughter of one another in America today. My spirit is troubled. I am brokenhearted and confounded.
We reacted strongly together when foreign terrorists killed 3,000 Americans on Sept. 11, 2001. Today, nearly that many Americans are dying in gun-related murders, suicides and accidents every month. Where is our outrage?
Why do we make it so easy for criminals, terrorists, members of hate groups, domestic abusers and the mentally ill to obtain and use weapons of war?
Is the greatest nation on Earth helpless to keep dangerous individuals from getting guns?
Never miss a local story.
The majority of National Rifle Association members support universal background checks.
Why in the world are some responsible gun-owning friends afraid that our government will confiscate their guns? Our law enforcement authorities are able to protect the rights of responsible gun owners, while limiting access to dangerous individuals.
Where is our love and respect for one another? Why don't we all stand for all responsible steps to end this slaughter of innocent Americans?
Surely, we can discover together God's love and work together to save lives being lost daily to gun-related violence.
I pray that we can.
