One of the most important freedoms enjoyed by most Americans is the freedom to choose. Unfortunately, that freedom is challenged when it conflicts with some people's beliefs.
In the past, we have had to fight for a woman's right to vote, for racial equality, fairness in the military and in the workplace, as well as a host of other issues that have required conflict. Now comes one's right to marry. Opposition ignores the contributions gays have made to the high standard of living we all enjoy.
Most rage comes from religious organizations, whose members include gays. Without gays, we would have to suffer with lower quality classical music, ballet, Broadway shows, plays, literature, movies, theater and paintings, all things we enjoy and that take us away from the drudgery of daily life. And some want to condemn a gay's right to marry.
Government is bullied by organizations to define love. But love is a choice, which should allow one's right to express the deepest feelings. No government should make a judgment concerning love. There are so many other issues that are destroying this country from within; freedom to love should not be an issue.
