Mitt Romney and U.S. Rep. Tim Scott want to repeal the Affordable Health Care Act.
They are fully aware that once all of the provisions of the act are implemented the American people will overwhelmingly accept the program the way they cherish Social Security, Medicare and all the safety net programs. When they fail, Republicans will look for more novel ways to eliminate the program.
It happened with Medicare. When their efforts to repeal the law didn't pan out, they conjured up a voucher scheme for Medicare and privatization for Social Security. It makes no difference what term they use; their objective is the same: Deny safety net programs for the common folk because affluent Republicans do not need those programs.
Make no mistake, this election is about eliminating all safety net programs. After repealing the Affordable Health Care Act, they will then attack Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and other safety net programs that support the poor, the middle class and women. This is not about seniors; we won't be affected by their callousness. This is about you and your immediate and future need for the insurance that safety net programs provide. Your parents, grandparents and women cherish these programs, and so will you, unless you let Republicans have their way.
Never miss a local story.
Votes for Romney and Scott are votes to repeal the Affordable Health Care Act and the destruction of safety net programs that millions of Americans depend on for their very existence.
