I am not a racist nor a bigot, but something disturbs me.
We have an unfortunate case of a black teenager shot and killed by a Hispanic man (identified as white) who thought he was protecting himself. It has become a cause cèlèbre among politicians and activists. Investigations are being demanded. The Justice Department is involved. The man has been indicted for murder.
So why didn't you publish the story of a couple named Bob and Nancy Strait from Tulsa? They were married for 65 years and peacefully living out whatever life they had left. Then on March 14 they were the victims of a home invasion, during which 85-year-old Nancy was brutally raped and beaten to death and 90-year-old Bob was beaten, shot in the face with a BB gun and hospitalized with a broken jaw and ribs. The suspect, who was arrested with the couple's stolen car and who had earlier sold the Strait's stolen TV, was a 20-year-old man named Tyrone Woodfork. The police have charged him with multiple crimes starting with first-degree murder.
In this case, the victims were white and the suspect is black.
Snopes.com points out that, "Although the robbery and beating of the Straits was reported in the UK's Daily Mail, U.S. coverage of the crime has so far largely been limited to local (Tulsa area) media."
Little wonder the conservatives refer to the national media as the "lamestream media."
